In a move to fortify India’s defenses against cyber fraud, Chief Justice Justice Suryakant will inaugurate the innovative ‘Abhay’ chatbot during the 22nd DP Kohli Memorial Lecture on April 20 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The lecture, titled ‘Challenges of Cyber Crime: Role of Police and Judiciary,’ promises incisive insights into tackling digital-age criminality. With ‘digital arrest’ scams surging, the CJI’s perspective on judicial-police synergy could redefine responses to these threats.

Abhay, an AI-driven verification tool, allows the public to instantly check CBI notice legitimacy, curbing the menace of fake communications that dupe millions annually.

The ceremony includes awarding 24 medals to exemplary CBI personnel, underscoring a commitment to merit in investigative work.

This tradition honors Dharma Nath Prasad Kohli, CBI’s founding father. Entering service in 1931 after his 1907 birth in UP, he helmed DSP E from 1955 and birthed the CBI in 1963, retiring in 1968 after transformative leadership.

Kohli broadened CBI’s scope, instilled rigorous probe standards, and launched awards for top sleuthing. His 1967 Padma Bhushan recognized a career that built the CBI into a pillar of trustworthy justice.

Since 2000, this lecture series has convened experts to dissect law enforcement challenges, knowledge-share on criminal justice, and reinforce values of professionalism and integrity that Kohli championed—values steering the CBI’s mission forward.
