From a mud hut to concrete dreams, government schemes changed destiny
Raipur April 16, 2026/For beneficiary Shri Madvi Kosa of Gram Panchayat Silger, Block Konta, a dream of many years has now come true. The family that once lived in a dilapidated hut in difficult circumstances now has a safe, dignified, and strong concrete house. The joint efforts of the Niyad Nellannar Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin have brought about a change in their lives, transforming struggle into hope.
The real foundation of this change was Rural Mason Training, conducted at the Gram Panchayat level by Merapath Education Private Limited. After receiving training, Shri Kosa not only learned the techniques of construction but also built his own house with his own hands with confidence. This story is not just about building a house, but it has become an inspiring example of a person becoming self-reliant and shaping their own future.
In the financial year 2024-25, Shri Kosa received a housing sanction of Rs 1.20 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin. Along with this, 95 man-days and Rs 23,085 in wage assistance were provided through MNREGA convergence, which accelerated the construction work. Furthermore, with Rs 12,000 from Swachh Bharat Mission for toilet construction, lighting facility from solar panels, and availability of clean drinking water to the house through tap-water system, their family’s life has now become convenient and secure.
On this inspiring transformation, Collector Shri Amit Kumar called it a model for the district and said that the proper implementation of schemes and skill development can make families self-reliant. District Panchayat CEO Shri Mukund Thakur called it a successful example and said that training enhances quality and the beneficiary becomes empowered.
During the Chief Minister’s visit, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai interacted with Shri Kosa and honored him by presenting him with a shawl, coconut, and a symbolic key. Today, Shri Madvi Kosa’s concrete house is not just a construction of bricks and stones, but a story of struggle to success that is inspiring the entire region.
