In a move strengthening South-South cooperation, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar launched the branding elements for the upcoming 4th India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) in New Delhi on April 23. The grand event, set for May 31, 2026, will host African heads of state, African Union officials, and regional body delegates to deepen ties and outline future collaborations.
The summit operates under the theme ‘IA Spirit: India Africa Strategic Partnership for Innovation, Resilience, and Inclusive Transformation,’ reflecting the dynamic evolution of India-Africa relations. Ahead of the main summit, key preparatory events include a senior officials’ dialogue on May 28 and foreign ministers’ conclave on May 29, focusing on critical cooperation domains.
The IAFS serves as a vital platform grounded in mutual respect, equality, solidarity, and shared prosperity. Past editions have significantly boosted Indian development assistance and capacity-building programs for Africa.
Addressing the launch, Jaishankar emphasized historical bonds: ‘Our freedom was incomplete without Africa’s liberation, and our development is half-done without theirs. True progress comes when Africa thrives alongside us.’
He detailed India’s people-centric development efforts, aligned with local ownership, and burgeoning collaborations in digital technologies, fintech, and innovation driving economic transformation across the continent.
Global endeavors like the International Solar Alliance and G20 inclusion of the African Union exemplify India’s advocacy for Africa’s global voice. With expanding diplomatic presence, India and Africa share a partnership forged in common struggles, aimed at fostering a resilient, innovative future together.
