Marking one year since the chilling Pahalgam terror strike, the European Union rallied behind India with a strongly worded condemnation. The bloc’s 27 countries united in denouncing the attack that killed 26 defenseless people, terming it ‘abhorrent’ and pledging full solidarity.

Posted by the Irish Embassy on X, the EU statement highlighted the indefensibility of targeting civilians. ‘Perpetrators of such atrocities must be brought to justice,’ it stressed, while expressing profound sympathy for the bereaved families.

The EU made clear its opposition to all forms of terrorism, standing firmly with India in this dark hour. This global backing extends beyond Europe, with tributes from Israel, Argentina, Australia, and others who called the event a grotesque violation of humanity.

The tragedy unfolded on April 22, 2025, in Pahalgam’s picturesque Baisaran Valley. Terrorists methodically executed 25 tourists and a local ponywallah who were simply on vacation with loved ones.

India’s retaliation was swift and surgical. Operation Sindoor saw precision strikes on nine terror camps across the border in Pakistan, neutralizing more than 100 terrorists in a nighttime assault on May 7-8.

This operation exemplified India’s resolute zero-tolerance doctrine on terrorism. As commemorations unfold worldwide, the EU’s endorsement signals strengthening international alliances against terror networks, offering hope amid grief.
