Rahul Gandhi Accuses BJP of Rigging Bengal, Assam Elections

The dust is yet to settle on the assembly election results across five states, but political tempers are already boiling over. Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, fired off a series of allegations on X, branding the outcomes in West Bengal and Assam as outright ‘stolen’ by the BJP with Election Commission complicity.

‘Clear cases in Assam and Bengal where BJP stole polls with EC support. We agree with CM Mamata Banerjee—over 100 seats robbed in Bengal. This tactic was on display in MP, Haryana, Maharashtra, and 2024 LS elections,’ Gandhi posted, rallying opposition voices against what he calls systemic manipulation.

His rhetoric peaked with a stark warning: ‘Election theft, institution capture—now what?’ This comes hot on the heels of Mamata’s fiery claims that the EC has morphed into a BJP tool, delivering an ‘immoral victory’ through unlawful means.

Current leads paint a vivid picture: BJP cruising to power in Assam. Bengal’s landscape flips dramatically—TMC below 100, BJP dominating over 200 seats. In Tamil Nadu, Vijay’s TVK storms ahead as the top winner. Kerala’s numbers tilt towards Congress forming the next government.

These accusations aren’t isolated; they form part of a broader opposition narrative challenging the sanctity of India’s electoral machinery. As protests brew and legal battles loom, the focus sharpens on whether independent probes will address these grievances or if political polarization will intensify further. The nation watches closely as trust in democratic institutions hangs in the balance.
