In a significant push for sustainable transport, Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh led a high-level stakeholder conference on the Draft Delhi EV Policy 2026. Aligning with PM Narendra Modi’s vision and CM Rekha Gupta’s directives, the initiative seeks to position the capital as India’s premier EV destination.
Senior department officials and electric mobility experts gathered to deliberate on policy enhancements. The four-session format covered the entire EV ecosystem, from adoption incentives to infrastructure buildup. Suggestions included deeper collaboration with DTL for widespread charging networks and EV promotion.
Singh reiterated the resolve to make Delhi the EV capital, forecasting rapid growth in electric vehicles and related facilities. This shift promises reduced pollution and elevated living standards for residents.
The policy outlines a detailed roadmap: accelerating EV uptake in every vehicle segment, scaling charging infrastructure, fortifying supply chains via battery recycling and recovery, and curbing fossil fuel dependency for better air quality.
Residential charging development took center stage, urging RWA involvement to solve parking woes and improve connectivity. Battery lifecycle management drew attention, with commitments for recycling systems that cut environmental harm and spur economic gains.
Linking EV initiatives to solar energy policies was another highlight, maximizing clean power utilization. Delhi currently has 9,000 charging points, expanding by 4,000-5,000, with ambitions to reach 32,000-36,000.
The meet also addressed EV facilities at bus depots, ISBTs, e-bus operator access, and retrofitting options. These insights will shape the final policy, driving Delhi towards a robust, eco-friendly mobility framework that benefits all citizens.
