In a bold expansion strategy, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) unveiled Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL) and named Sanjay Jamuar its first CEO. This wholly-owned subsidiary marks DMRC’s foray into international consultancy and project execution.

Backed by the government, DMIL will handle metro projects, operations, and maintenance outside Delhi—in India and abroad. It specializes in advisory services, helping cities craft master plans, optimize existing networks, and launch new transit initiatives.

Drawing on DMRC’s rich legacy, DMIL promises to deliver battle-tested strategies for modern urban transport challenges. The parent company has already contributed to metro lines in Mumbai, Jaipur, Patna, and Chennai, while consulting on Dhaka Metro and managing O&M in multiple locations.

Who is Sanjay Jamuar? An IRTS veteran with a global resume spanning Indian Railways, DMRC, and stints in Britain, America, France, the Middle East, and Europe. Educated at prestigious institutions like Warwick Business School (Strategic Leadership) and Leeds University (Transport Economics), he embodies leadership excellence.

Fun fact: Jamuar joined DMRC in 1998 as its inaugural O&M staffer. Now, heading DMIL, he’s circling back to his roots with renewed vigor.

This leadership choice comes at a pivotal time as cities worldwide scramble for efficient mass transit. DMIL’s launch could cement DMRC’s status as a global transit powerhouse, fostering economic growth through superior infrastructure.
