In a shocking road tragedy on Haryana’s National Highway-44, a tire blowout triggered a multi-vehicle pile-up Sunday morning near Sonipat, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. The sequence began when a Ghaziabad-bound Amul milk truck’s tire burst, forcing its driver to brake hard and stop right in the fast lane.

Disaster struck almost immediately as a trailing truck failed to stop in time, slamming into the stationary vehicle. A Fortuner SUV, unable to maneuver, then crashed into the entangled trucks. The force of the collision ripped apart the vehicles’ structures, with the Fortuner’s bonnet crumpling like paper.

A truck conductor perished instantly amid the twisted metal, while others sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Emergency responders battled through the wreckage to free survivors, who were promptly hospitalized. The highway towards Delhi from Panipat became a parking lot, with jams lasting hours.

Police swiftly arrived at the Sector-7 flyover site, managing diversions and towing away the damaged vehicles. Local CCTV is under scrutiny, confirming the initial tire failure as the spark. The truck driver faces interrogation for not pulling over safely. This deadly mishap highlights persistent issues like poor tire checks and high speeds on India’s vital arterial roads. Enhanced safety measures are now under urgent review by highway authorities.
