In a shocking revelation, the Ranchi Police have disclosed that the brutal murder of a security guard at the Jagannathpur Temple was motivated by the suspects’ desire to fund a lavish lifestyle and late-night parties. The three accused, who were apprehended on Saturday, allegedly beat the guard, Birsa Munda, to death before breaking into the donation chest and decamping with more than ₹3 lakh. The police SIT, led by the City SP and including the Hatia DSP, moved quickly after the community expressed outrage over the lack of safety at the prominent religious landmark.

According to senior officials, the suspects did not wait long to spend their ill-gotten gains. Immediately after the robbery, they visited several prominent shops in Ranchi to buy expensive clothes and footwear. They also organized a party to celebrate their successful heist. The police were able to track them through technical evidence and recovered the newly purchased clothes along with the original receipts. Two of the suspects, Dev and Ayush, reportedly have a prior criminal record, which helped the police narrow down the list of potential local offenders living in the vicinity of the Dhurwa temple.
