Tehri Garhwal’s development took center stage as Minister Ganesh Joshi chaired a comprehensive district plan review at the New Tehri Collectorate auditorium. With a sharp focus on the next 30 years, Joshi mandated officials to integrate local inputs from MLAs and residents for robust, forward-looking blueprints.

Water woes dominated discussions, with Joshi labeling it a pressing national issue requiring meticulous strategies. He ordered a separate tourism conclave to boost visitor attractions amid the district’s natural bounty. The District Magistrate showcased flagship programs: ‘My Block My Shop’ for women’s economic upliftment, dedicated mother-and-child facilities, community libraries, tuition-free physics coaching, and sports infrastructure expansions.

A detailed 2026-27 budget of Rs 95 crore plus was outlined, encompassing fenced farmlands, goat valley projects, trout and kiwi cultivation, CHC/PHC repairs, and toilet constructions in schools. MLA Vikram Singh Negi flagged acute drinking water deficits in Pratapnagar, while DFO Puneet Tomar discussed erosion threats to water bodies. Quality lapses in ADB-funded ISBT and market projects drew scrutiny from other lawmakers, alongside demands for ring roads and sanitation drives.

Joshi’s directives promise a resilient framework, blending innovation with community involvement to propel Tehri towards sustainable prosperity. The session opened with ceremonial plant tributes, reflecting eco-conscious leadership.
