In a shocking midnight mishap, a high-speed car crashed into a motorcycle in east Delhi’s Shakarpur, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old father and injuries to his wife and two children. The collision occurred on Vikas Marg opposite Geeta Colony around 1:30 AM Thursday, turning a routine family ride home into a nightmare.

According to police reports, the PCR alert came in at 1:50 AM. Locals caught the fleeing driver, 45-year-old Sachin Gulati from Noida, before law enforcement arrived. The victims, identified as Neeraj, his wife Sonam, and their kids from Vishwas Nagar, were rushed to Hedgewar Hospital.

Neeraj succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His grieving family now battles recovery from the ordeal. The bike, a Passion model, bore the brunt of the Maruti Celerio’s reckless impact as they returned from Connaught Place.

Anil Kumar, who filed the complaint, witnessed the chaos and helped coordinate aid. Police have seized the vehicles, sent Neeraj’s remains for autopsy at LNJP, and filed charges against Gulati. Preliminary inquiries point to excessive speed as the primary cause.

This incident underscores Delhi’s persistent road safety crisis, with over 1,300 fatalities reported last year alone. Officials call for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and awareness campaigns targeting late-night commuters on high-traffic corridors.
