Deep-seated political rivalries manifested in a violent confrontation in Vaishali district when a wedding procession was attacked over a controversial DJ track. The dispute ignited when supporters of rival political factions clashed over a song celebrating Chirag Paswan. The groom’s mother, Budhni Devi, recounted the harrowing experience through tears, stating that women and children were surrounded and assaulted while they were performing traditional rituals. She further alleged that the attackers snatched jewelry and targeted her relatives with stones.
The attackers reportedly questioned the Paswan community’s audacity to play such music in the village, leading to a targeted assault on the wedding party. One of the groom’s nephews suffered a severe head injury during the stone-pelting. The incident highlights the volatile nature of identity politics in rural Bihar, where even a choice of music can spark a communal rift. Despite the violence, the family managed to proceed with the wedding under heavy police protection.
