A major leap forward for Noida’s green transport ambitions unfolded today. The Noida Authority, under the guidance of its CEO Krishna Karunesh, has forged a key Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HPCL. This collaboration targets the rollout of 13 EV battery swapping facilities at prime urban spots.
Battery swapping addresses one of the biggest hurdles in EV proliferation: downtime. Two-wheeler and three-wheeler owners will now exchange exhausted batteries for charged ones swiftly, bypassing hours of plugging in. This efficiency boost is expected to skyrocket EV penetration rates across the city.
Financially savvy for the authority, the project imposes zero costs on its budget. HPCL shoulders all installation and operational expenses, while the authority benefits from a revenue-sharing arrangement at Re 1 per kWh.
The selected sites are thoughtfully chosen for convenience: Sector-6 Noida Authority office front, Sector-29’s Ganga Shopping Complex, Spice Mall vicinity in Sector-25A, ESIC Hospital opposite in Sector-24, Electronic City Metro in Sector-63, H-Block’s Haldiram Market, Sector-58, Shopprix Mall area in Sector-61, Sectors 16A and 16, Metro stations at Sectors 18 and 15, plus Amity University surroundings.
Beyond immediate pollution reduction, this move aligns with Noida’s vision of becoming a sustainable smart city. Enhanced EV infrastructure promises cleaner air, reduced noise, and a model for urban innovation that other regions can emulate. The future of mobility in Noida looks electrifyingly bright.
