Big Update: Final-Year Grads Can Now Join PM Internship Program

The Central Government has rolled out a game-changing update to the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), opening doors for final-year bachelor’s and master’s students. This pilot phase tweak, led by the MCA alongside education ministries, comes as part of efforts to equip young Indians with real-world skills before they graduate.

Students can now register on the PMIS portal for structured, paid internships in leading corporations. However, they must secure an NOC from their college or university, confirming that the internship won’t interfere with academic commitments. These certificates are to be provided by senior officials to maintain balance between studies and professional exposure.

Echoing the spirit of NEP, the scheme prioritizes practical training over rote learning. Interns stand to earn Rs 9,000 monthly while working on live projects, building portfolios that impress recruiters.

Over 300 firms have jumped on board, offering roles across industries in the pilot’s third phase. This expansion is timely, addressing youth unemployment by fostering skills like collaboration and innovation early on.

As the program gains momentum, it’s poised to create a new generation of industry-ready professionals, strengthening India’s position in the global talent race. With more opportunities being listed daily, final-year students are urged to apply promptly.
