At a special function in Gandhinagar, Gujarat’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Rushikesh Patel presented an award to Dr. Ganesh Baraia, recognizing his unyielding spirit in overcoming physical disabilities to excel in medicine. The ceremony served as a platform for Patel to deliver a stern warning against youth suicides and a rallying cry for resilience.

‘Life’s failures are not endpoints; they are battles to win,’ Patel declared, positioning Dr. Baraia’s story as a guiding light. Despite being turned down by regulatory bodies, Baraia persisted through legal battles up to the apex court, earning his qualification with help from mentor Dr. Dalpat Katariya.

Patel voiced alarm at the growing trend of student suicides, particularly among those pursuing competitive fields like medicine and engineering. He implored the audience: ‘Before despair leads to tragedy, remember your parents’ pain. Success isn’t confined to titles like doctor or engineer—it’s about inner strength and family bonds.’

The minister criticized the habit of hostel students burying themselves in phones upon returning home, urging meaningful family interactions instead. He commended the collaborative efforts of hospital and college officials, reinforcing that strong support systems are key to personal victories.

Dr. Baraia’s recognition not only celebrates individual grit but also ignites a broader conversation on mental health and motivation among Gujarat’s youth, promising a more resilient future.
