In a rankings shake-up released from Dubai, Chamari Atapattu’s leadership and skill have paid rich dividends for Sri Lanka in the ICC Women’s T20I standings. The skipper jumped three rungs to 41st among bowlers and two to third among all-rounders, eclipsing established stars like Deepti Sharma and Ash Gardner.
Atapattu’s Player of the Series award in the 3-0 thrashing of Bangladesh underscores her dominance: 115 runs and four wickets in three games. Ahead of her now are just Amy Kerr of New Zealand and Hayley Matthews of West Indies.
Teammates shared the glory too. Batter Harshita Samarawickrama gained five places to tie at 20th, Imesha Dulani surged 23 to 49th. Bowlers Kavisha Dilhari (+2 to 17th) and Malsha Madara (+11 to 44th) also advanced.
Bangladesh players rose despite defeat: Sharmin Akter up 10 to 37th (batting), Dilara Akter to 55th, Shorna Akter joint 62nd, and bowler Sultana Khatun’s massive 48-place gain to 38th.
Shifting to ODIs, Pakistan’s clinical 168-run victory over Zimbabwe in Karachi propelled Sidra Ameen to 11th (+3, batting), Sadaf Shamas to 72nd (+12) after her 98, Nashra Sundhu to 11th (+1, bowling), and Fatima Sana to joint 26th bowling (+2) and 15th all-rounder (+2).
