A chilling family betrayal has come to light in Jharkhand’s Saraikela-Kharsawan, where a wife allegedly masterminded her husband’s murder alongside her brother and other kin. The gruesome discovery of Baya Sardar’s body, throat slashed, in Kantadih village on May 2 had initially baffled investigators.
What began as a probe into possible outsider involvement swiftly turned inward, thanks to digital footprints and informant tips. In a Tuesday press briefing, SDPO Sameer Savaiya announced the arrests of prime suspect Sunita Sardar, her brother Soma Munda (aka Lubu Munda), Beer Singh Munda, and Bira Munda.
Interrogations peeled back layers of resentment: long-simmering marital discord and familial rifts drove the deadly scheme. The group executed their plan with precision, wielding a farsa axe under the cover of night.
Seizures from the crime scene include the weapon smeared in blood, the getaway scooter, and multiple phones linking the plotters. Soma Munda’s prior convictions under serious laws like UAPA in 2019 add a layer of concern to the case.
Kharsawan station head Gaurav Kumar and tech experts played pivotal roles in this breakthrough. With the accused now in judicial lockup, police are digging deeper for accomplices or hidden motives.
The incident underscores rising tensions in household dynamics, serving as a grim reminder for communities to address conflicts before they turn fatal.
