ALMATY, Kazakhstan – Day two of the ISSF World Cup Shotgun brought heartbreak for Indian skeet shooters, who narrowly missed qualifying for the finals in both genders. At the prestigious Asanov Shooting Club, Olympians and national stars put up valiant efforts but couldn’t crack the top spots.

Leading the men’s pack was Miraz Ahmad Khan, whose comeback in the closing stages was a highlight. From 26th after 71/75 on the opening day, he fired 23 and 25 in the last two series to total 119 and claim 18th. Bhavtegh Singh Gill matched the score with steady marksmanship across five series, settling for 19th.

Anant Jeet Singh Naruka impressed with a 25 in round four and 23 next, finishing on 117 for 38th in his season debut World Cup. Gurjot Singh Khangura totaled 115 (54th), while Abhay Singh Sekhon ended at 113 (71st).

Women’s standout Raiza Dhillon shone with 115 points, her scores reading 22-23-24-23-23 for 17th place. Ganemat Sekhon slipped from top-eight contention after scoring just 42 in her final two series, landing at 112/33rd. Parinaaz Dhaliwal (112/32nd) pipped her, with Vanshika Tiwari (112/29th) and Rashmi Rathore (102/47th) rounding out the field.

As ranking points hang in the balance, these results underscore the fierce global competition and the fine margins in elite shotgun shooting. India’s campaign shifts focus to building momentum for upcoming Olympics qualifiers.
