Delhi’s law enforcers struck gold—figuratively and literally—in Madhu Vihar, apprehending two habitual offenders mid-escape with a victim’s gold chain and a stolen bike in tow. This crackdown highlights the police’s proactive stance against escalating snatching spree in the area.
The drama unfolded on May 3 when a distress call reported a brazen chain snatch right outside Singla Sweets by the BSES office. Patrolling cops gave chase to the suspects on their getaway motorcycle, cornering them swiftly despite the narrow lanes.
Upon detention, the gold-like chain was recovered from their possession, matching the complaint. Shockingly, the bike traced back to a theft case at Mandawali station. Shivam alias Bachkana (23) and Kunal (23), residents of West Vinod Nagar, confessed to several similar heists in Madhu Vihar and nearby Pandav Nagar.
Both have lengthy rap sheets featuring thefts and robberies. Formed to tackle surging local crimes, the special police unit’s relentless monitoring paid off. ‘Quick action and intelligence-led policing made this possible,’ officials noted.
As investigations deepen, police aim to dismantle any larger network. East Delhi residents can now walk with renewed confidence, though experts urge continued community alertness to prevent such daylight predations.
