Pretoria witnessed history as India’s Deaf Cricket Team dismantled South Africa in a comprehensive series win – 3-0 in T20s and 2-0 in ODIs. Every department shone brightly, from explosive batting chases to lethal bowling spells, proving doubters wrong.
Under the banner of IDCA, backed by BCCI and international deaf cricket bodies, this tour highlighted resilience and talent among hearing-impaired athletes.
T20 highlights included a composed 108-run chase (3 wickets remaining), a breezy 109-run pursuit (8 wickets intact), and a commanding 157/3 defended against South Africa’s 85 all out – a 72-run triumph.
ODI action was equally gripping. India mastered 118 in the first with 7 wickets to spare, then scripted a nail-biter chasing 203 for a 9-wicket loss but ultimate glory.
Veerendra Singh stole the show, bagging Player of the Series in both formats: best T20 batter/bowler and ODI top bowler. Sai Akash’s ODI batting fireworks earned him top honors.
‘Our champions were primed for battle,’ beamed IDCA chief Sumit Jain. ‘They left no stone unturned, displaying skills that brought home the silverware.’
Roma Balwani, IDCA CEO, added, ‘This Pretoria showdown fosters stronger bilateral bonds and positions deaf cricket as a beacon of inspiration worldwide.’
Special thanks went to ICC’s Jay Shah and BCCI, fueling dreams for future conquests in this barrier-breaking sport.
