Incidents in Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad underscore a critical shortfall: firefighters can’t adequately combat blazes on higher levels due to limited equipment reach. With highrises proliferating amid booming real estate, the MLA warned of impending disasters without urgent interventions.
Singh’s proposals include deploying advanced fire engines with extended ladders for ultra-high buildings and ensuring sky lifts are readily available. He pushed for rigorous fire safety audits, compulsory maintenance of detection systems, and heavy fines for builders ignoring norms.
Community-level preparedness is key, he stressed, recommending periodic mock drills for residents’ associations to instill emergency response skills. Improving fire services’ efficiency through better training and faster deployment was also highlighted.
