The Madhya Pradesh administration wasted no time in responding to the Bargi Reservoir cruise disaster, firing three staffers and suspending a key manager on Friday. This crackdown highlights the government’s commitment to accountability in the wake of a heartbreaking incident that claimed lives and left families devastated.

Official sources confirmed the sacking of pilot Mahesh Patel, helper Chotelal Gond, and front office assistant Brijendra. Manager Sunil Marawi of Hotel Macal Resort and Boat Club Bargi is suspended, and regional head Sanjay Malhotra reassigned to HQ amid ongoing probes.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, fresh from an on-site inspection in Jabalpur, reiterated that lapses in duty will not be tolerated. His visit included poignant interactions with survivors and bereaved families at Bargi Dam, where he offered emotional support and pledged comprehensive aid.

Rescue efforts have yielded nine recovered bodies and 28 rescues, but searches persist with elite forces from SDRF, NDRF, and the military deployed. Yadav lauded the grassroots heroism of locals, noting how ordinary citizens and project workers aided professionals in the crisis.

Addressing the state’s profound grief, the CM promised systemic safety overhauls based on this tragedy. Financial relief includes Rs 4 lakh from the state for each deceased’s family, complemented by PM Modi’s Rs 2 lakh announcement from the national fund.

As operations wrap up phases, the focus shifts to healing and prevention, ensuring such negligence never recurs on Madhya Pradesh waters.
