Let us tell you that Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were absent in Ranji Trophy. Because of which both of them can be dropped from the central contract of BCCI. Shreyas Iyer has Grade B contract of BCCI while Ishan Kishan has Grade C contract.
According to the report, the selectors under the leadership of Ajit Agarkar have completed the list of centrally contracted players for the 2023-24 season, which the BCCI will release soon. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer are expected to be left out of this list due to lack of participation in domestic cricket.
Kishan last played for India in the T20 series against Australia in November, after which he withdrew from the South Africa tour at the end of the year due to personal reasons. Meanwhile, he has decided not to compete in the Ranji Trophy for Jharkhand and has reportedly joined Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya for a training session in Baroda.
Shreyas Iyer, who was dropped from India’s squad for the last three Test matches against England, was ruled out of Mumbai’s upcoming Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Baroda on Friday citing back pain. However, according to reports, the head of the department of sports science and medicine at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru confirmed in an email to the selectors that Iyer has ‘no fresh injuries’ and is ‘fit’.
