Water to be supplied from school tube well by testing its water inflow capacity, assistant engineer instructed to make arrangements for summer running water
Water supply to Jamguda is from Kosarteda group water supply scheme, tank not filling due to summer season
Raipur. April 30, 2026. In Jamguda basti of Pipravand Gram Panchayat in Bastar district, people are currently getting water from 3 hand pumps, one solar pump, and one power pump. The Public Health Engineering Department has instructed the Assistant Engineer to test the water inflow capacity of the tube well on the school premises and install a 2 HP pump to arrange for alternate running water for the school as well as Jamguda basti during the summer season.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, water is supplied to Jamguda through pipelines from the Kosarteda group water supply scheme. Water supply has been arranged in Pipravand through retrofitting in the previously operated group water supply scheme. Under the retrofitting scheme, 3530 meters of pipelines have been laid at a cost of Rs 70.29 lakh, and two solar water supply systems have been installed, providing 237 Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC), the work for which has been completed. Pipravand is the last village in the Kosarteda group water supply scheme, due to which the drinking water supply is disrupted for two months during summer as the tank does not fill.
Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer visited Jamguda and reviewed the arrangements
The Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer of the Jagdalpur region of the Public Health Engineering Department visited Pipravand and Jamguda today to review the drinking water supply arrangements and gave necessary instructions to the field officers. They informed that Pipravand, with a population of one thousand, has 14 functional hand pumps, two power pumps, and two solar pumps for drinking water. Jamguda basti, with a population of 300, is getting water from 3 hand pumps, one solar pump, and one power pump.
Met the Sarpanch and Dulay Kashyap and obtained information about water supply
The Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer reached the village and met Sarpanch Mr. Keshavram Baghel and Dulay Kashyap to get information about the drinking water arrangements. Dulay Kashyap informed that usually, relatives living across the road supply water to her house through loose pipes. She sometimes crosses the road to fetch water. She stated that she received a battery-operated tricycle from the Social Welfare Department. Using this, she used to bring water for drinking and other purposes from her relative’s private tube well or the power pump at the school, which is 200 meters away. Her tricycle has been out of order for the last two months. She has informed the Social Welfare Department and the Sarpanch about this, but the problem persists due to the lack of repair.
