Jammu and Kashmir receives a massive infrastructure boost with ₹8,000 crore worth of road projects greenlit under PMGSY-IV, announced by the Rural Development Ministry. This move promises to bridge gaps in rural areas, supercharging farming output, job opportunities, and daily life for thousands.

At a high-profile ceremony in Srinagar’s SKICC, Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed the approval documents to CM Omar Abdullah. The minister praised the rapid execution: ‘Approving projects of this magnitude in just one year is a milestone, reflecting our resolve for J&K’s advancement.’

Both batches of PMGSY-IV prioritized the UT, Chouhan revealed. Beyond paving roads, the scheme targets holistic integration—connecting isolated villages to education, healthcare, and economic hubs. This strategic connectivity will empower communities long sidelined from progress.

Drawing from PM Modi’s vision, Chouhan spoke of ‘heart-to-heart’ connections alongside physical infrastructure. The center’s support is boundless, he assured. In parallel, DAY-NRLM released over ₹4,568 crore across 24 states/UTs to fortify women SHGs and rural economies.

Empowerment efforts now aim higher: crafting resilient businesswomen from ‘Lakhpati Didis.’ A key announcement included an ICAR team visit to assess J&K’s agri-resources and draft a detailed action plan.

CM Abdullah hailed the sanction as a game-changer, vital for the region’s rugged landscapes. Prior PMGSY phases transformed access; this phase completes the network, ensuring no village is left behind in India’s development journey.
