In a sweeping action against cooking gas syndicates, Indian authorities have confiscated over 67,000 LPG cylinders in raids nationwide since March. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas shared these figures Monday, highlighting 1,160+ FIRs filed and 271 individuals taken into custody.

Monday alone saw more than 2,800 raids executed, intensifying scrutiny on the distribution network. Oil majors have levied fines on 316 distributorships and blacklisted 72, with fresh actions including 46 show-cause notices, fines on six, and one suspension.

Geopolitical unrest in the Middle East has fueled hoarding attempts, but supplies hold steady. Retail distribution reports no deficits, bolstered by 99% online bookings and 94% OTP-verified deliveries to prevent diversion.

Relief measures include 42,800+ voluntary LPG surrenders by PNG users, reducing strain. Households get top priority, with refineries maxed out, crude reserves plentiful, and domestic LPG output enhanced. Contingency plans address risks like Hormuz Strait closure.

The public is advised against hoarding fuels, to shun misinformation, trust verified sources, opt for app-based bookings, and avoid distributor queues. All refineries hum at peak, petrol-diesel stocks robust, safeguarding daily needs.
