Bihar: Widow Selling Vegetables Attacked with Boiling Water

In a display of extreme cruelty, a widowed vegetable seller was severely injured in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, after being doused with boiling water. Rita Devi, who travels daily from Pusa in Samastipur to Muzaffarpur to sell vegetables, was sitting near a hotel when the incident occurred. For the past decade, she has been the sole provider for her three sons, and this attack has now threatened her livelihood and her family’s future. Witnesses describe seeing the woman suddenly engulfed in steam and pain as the boiling water fell from a residence above.
