In a spirited display of commitment to national fitness goals, Union Minister of State Raksha Khadse pedaled through Srinagar’s Dal Lake promenade during the popular ‘Sunday on Cycle’ program. The event, part of day two at the Chintan Shivir, drew sports leaders from across India, as shared by Khadse on social media.
‘Advancing PM Modi’s vision under Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya’s guidance, we kicked off with Sunday on Cycle – honoring fitness and discipline,’ her post read, accompanied by images of the lively ride. Ministers and officials from states and UTs joined in, showcasing unity in the Fit India campaign.
Dr. Mandaviya, the Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, cycled with locals, while J&K’s Satish Sharma also participated. Post-ride, Mandaviya addressed reporters, detailing the ministry’s Srinagar conclave welcomed heartily by Kashmiris. ‘It’s all about creating fitness awareness in a fun, engaging way,’ he affirmed.
On his three-day J&K visit, Mandaviya linked personal health to national progress. ‘For India to become a prosperous nation, every citizen must prioritize fitness. A healthy society builds Viksit Bharat,’ he declared. This weekly event, now at 16,000+ spots countrywide, is transforming Sundays into opportunities for health and community bonding.
Khadse’s involvement highlights how high-level endorsement is driving grassroots adoption of cycling, promoting discipline and well-being amid stunning natural settings. The initiative continues to gain momentum, encouraging more Indians to mount their bikes for a fitter future.
