Amid escalating concerns over West Asian conflicts disrupting global energy flows, India’s government has moved swiftly to calm nerves at home. On Tuesday, officials declared that LPG distribution is rock-solid nationwide, with households at the forefront of supply priorities.

A comprehensive ministry release painted a picture of operational resilience: Zero reports of distributor stockouts. Digital bookings now account for 98 percent of orders, and DAC-verified deliveries hit 92 percent, minimizing leakages and building trust.

‘Panic buying helps no one,’ the statement cautioned, advising against stockpiling fuels and pushing for verified information only. Digital platforms are promoted for seamless LPG bookings, alongside shifts to PNG, electric appliances, or induction stoves. Energy conservation tips were also shared to stretch supplies further.

Domestic essentials like LPG, PNG, and CNG are guaranteed at 100 percent capacity. For commercial needs, hospitals and schools get first dibs. Migrant laborers see enhanced access to 5kg cylinders, a targeted relief measure.

Strategic steps abound: Higher refinery production, longer booking gaps to prevent overuse, alternative fuel pushes, and extra coal directives from the Coal Ministry. Anti-hoarding drives are intensifying, with recent blitzes uncovering violations—2,200+ raids, 274 fines, 67 suspensions by oil PSUs.

PNG expansion is gaining traction, activating 501,000+ connections since March 2026 and onboarding 568,000 new users. Some 39,400 have ditched LPG for PNG, smartly redistributing demand.

Ports are humming without hitches, and naval passages through Hormuz are safer: Nine LPG ships and one oil tanker cleared since late February 2026. DG Shipping’s control room managed 7,000+ queries, bringing home 2,590+ seafarers. Twelve from Iraq landed safely in Mumbai, aided by diplomatic efforts.

This multi-pronged approach underscores India’s preparedness, ensuring energy security while safeguarding vulnerable groups and citizens overseas.
