Spanning from Electronic City Phase 2 to near the international airport, the drone completed a one-way trip in 21 minutes—versus 60+ minutes by road over 53 km. Adhering strictly to DGCA guidelines, it operated in restricted yellow and red zones at 120 meters height, showcasing flawless safety protocols.
This mid-mile test evaluated urban air mobility’s feasibility, emphasizing faster, cheaper, and greener supply chains. Ideal for life-saving drugs and urgent essentials, the tech could slash delivery costs and boost efficiency dramatically.
Beyond speed, benefits include lower traffic reliance, fuel savings, and enhanced emergency response. IIT Madras is also exploring synergies with electric vehicles and advanced forecasting.
