In a boost to spiritual tourism, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s administration is rolling out state-of-the-art digital luggage lockers near Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi. This facility will allow devotees to store everything from mobiles to large suitcases securely, freeing them to focus on their faith.
Imagine arriving in the ancient city of Kashi, shedding worldly concerns to immerse in the Ganges and seek blessings at the Vishwanath Temple. No more fretting over left-behind bags. The lockers, operable via UPI and other digital payments, come in four sizes: small, medium, large, and extra-large.
Varanasi Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal detailed the plan: 225 lockers will dot strategic spots like Dashashwamedh Plaza, Godaulia, Town Hall, and Beniyabagh Parking. This initiative exemplifies Digital India’s reach even in one of the world’s oldest living cities.
Beyond convenience, it enhances safety amid surging pilgrim footfall. Visitors can explore ghats, perform rituals, and darshan at multiple temples unburdened. As Yogi government’s tourism push gains momentum, such innovations position Varanasi as a model for heritage sites worldwide.
Expect these lockers operational soon, transforming pilgrim experiences and boosting the local economy through increased tourism.
