Uttar Pradesh under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has witnessed a quiet revolution in women’s fortunes since 2017. What began as a commitment on day one has evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem of empowerment, safety nets, and opportunities.

Economic self-reliance tops the list. More than 10 million women joined self-help groups, fostering community-driven growth. The ambitious Lakhpati Didi initiative marked 35 lakh women, with 18.55 lakh achieving lakhpati status through skill-building and loans.

For daughters, targeted interventions shine. Over 26 lakh girls received aid via Kanya Sumangala Yojana, covering education and health. Collective wedding schemes united 5.2 lakh couples, alleviating family pressures.

Rural empowerment got a boost via BC Sakhi, where women processed Rs 42,711 crore in financial transactions, pocketing Rs 116 crore in dividends. Similarly, 15,409 electricity sakhis collected Rs 3,207 crore in bills, earning Rs 41.3 crore commissions.

Industrial participation surged, with permissions for night shifts backed by security protocols. Female labor force engagement jumped from a meager 13% to 36%, signaling confidence in women’s capabilities.

Social welfare expanded too. Destitute widows’ pensions hiked by Rs 500 monthly to Rs 1,500, part of a fivefold pension surge. Nutrition programs reached 2.12 crore beneficiaries, fortifying maternal and child health.

On safety, 181 helpline resolved 8.42 lakh cases. The Rani Laxmibai corpus provided Rs 511 crore to over 14,000 survivors. Political advocacy ensured more women in assemblies.

Yogi’s vision has not just empowered but elevated Uttar Pradesh women, scripting a success story of progress and protection.
