Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a decisive step towards self-reliance in defense on Wednesday by allotting 75 hectares of prime land in the Chitrakoot node to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). The allotment letter was presented to BEL’s Chairman Manoj Jain, signaling accelerated development of the UP Defense Industrial Corridor and injecting fresh momentum into Bundelkhand’s industrial landscape.

This development underscores UP’s rising stature in India’s defense sector. CM Yogi noted that Chitrakoot’s strategic positioning offers unmatched logistics and terrain suitability, making it ideal for defense hubs. The node is set to become a magnet for investments, generating employment and spurring tech-driven industries.

BEL’s ₹562.5 crore investment will birth an advanced facility dedicated to radar and air defense systems. Beyond direct benefits like 300+ jobs, it will catalyze indirect employment in supply chains, empowering local talent and curbing out-migration. The project enhances technical skills, innovation, and a robust industrial ecosystem.

Echoing the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, this move slashes reliance on imports, fortifies domestic capabilities, and nurtures MSMEs with opportunities in tech partnerships and knowledge sharing. It positions UP as a defense production leader.

From a bastion of spirituality, Chitrakoot transforms into an industrial beacon. This synergy of heritage and high-tech will drive inclusive development, balancing regional progress with statewide goals.
