In a landmark achievement, Maruti Suzuki India has set a new benchmark for domestic auto manufacturing by producing 2.34 million vehicles in FY 2025-26, the company confirmed Thursday.
No other car manufacturer in India has matched this volume on an annual basis, making Maruti the undisputed leader. This record extends to the global Suzuki ecosystem, where Maruti is the only entity to hit such heights.
Looking ahead, Maruti aims to double its output to 4 million units per year, driven by strategic investments and market optimism.
‘Producing over 2.3 million cars in one country is an elite club, and we’re proud to be in it,’ said MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi. He highlighted the company’s customer-centric approach: ‘Our focus on innovative products that align with evolving customer preferences has sustained loyalty across generations.’
Key models like Dzire, Fronx, Swift, Ertiga, and Baleno led the charge, each surpassing 2 lakh units produced, showcasing their enduring popularity.
Takeuchi emphasized collaborative efforts: ‘Our success rests on the trust with employees, suppliers, and dealers. Supportive policies such as GST 2.0 have enhanced market sentiment, fueling demand and allowing us to achieve this peak.’
The company’s network includes one plant each in Gurugram, Manesar, and Kharkhoda (Haryana), plus four in Gujarat’s Hansalpur, totaling 2.4 million units capacity.
Expansion is underway with a new facility at Sanand’s Khoraj Industrial Estate, selected in March 2026, poised to contribute 10 lakh units annually upon completion.
As India’s auto sector accelerates, Maruti’s milestone reinforces its pivotal role in driving economic growth and mobility for millions.
