In a powerful show of female fitness fervor, the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium hosted ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ on April 19, drawing massive crowds led by women. Sports icons and celebrities pedaled together, highlighting the initiative’s growing appeal.
Leading the pack were Olympic wrestler Geeta Phogat, professional boxer Swati Boora, judo ace Priya Sharma, Kannada film star Ragini Dwivedi, and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman. The event pulsed with positivity as participants zipped through Delhi’s streets.
Geeta Phogat reflected on the transformative impact: ‘The energy from all these women was electric. This program, started by the PM years ago, has truly awakened a fitness revolution.’ Swati Boora, a repeat attendee, marveled at the progress: ‘Past events had spirit, but today’s women’s turnout and enthusiasm take it to another level, thanks to heightened awareness.’
Newcomer Priya Sharma was awestruck: ‘First time here, and I’m blown away by the crowd—especially the women. Special events like this make all the difference.’ Ragini Dwivedi brought regional pride: ‘Proud to represent the South; women from every state must unite in such drives.’
Milind Soman matched strides with the pink-clad women cyclists, engaging in fitness drills and honoring top performers with awards. Held every Sunday nationwide, this Ministry-backed rally targets rising obesity in youth while championing eco-friendly cycling. With women’s involvement surging, it’s pedaling India towards healthier habits and a sustainable tomorrow.
