Railway authorities in Bihar struck gold – literally – by nabbing a key fugitive from Madhya Pradesh’s sensational Singrauli bank heist. The arrest at Dehri-on-Son station netted Kamlesh Kumar along with 15.72 lakh rupees in cash and 61 grams of gold worth over 9 lakhs, marking a pivotal win against organized crime.

The drama unfolded Saturday when the Nalanda native tried to evade RPF personnel. Railway ASP Alok Kumar Singh detailed how officers quickly subdued the fleeing suspect during a routine check. The recovered items confirmed his involvement in the audacious robbery that targeted a Bank of Maharashtra outlet.

In a meticulously planned 15-minute operation under the midday sun, five robbers burst into the bank, pistol-whipped the manager, unleashed gunfire to terrorize those inside, restrained employees and visitors, and sped away on bikes laden with up to 20 lakh cash and heaps of gold jewellery – part of a haul potentially totaling 15 crores.

Alert constables Uma Kant and Mohammad Nazim’s sharp eyes during patrol triggered the bust, as noted by RPF Inspector Ramvilas Ram. With Madhya Pradesh investigators now on site in Rohtas, questioning intensifies to unravel the gang’s network.

This capture not only cracks open a major case but highlights inter-state police coordination. ASP Singh announced rewards for the team, emphasizing how proactive measures thwart criminals’ escape plans across state lines.
