Punjab BJP’s Mock Vidhan Sabha Targets AAP Over Broken Promises

In a dramatic show of opposition strength, Punjab BJP held a mock legislative assembly in Chandigarh on Friday, launching a multi-pronged assault on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s AAP government. Leaders zeroed in on crumbling law enforcement, rampant crime, and a litany of unmet electoral pledges after nearly four and a half years in office.

Tarun Chugh, BJP’s national general secretary, set the tone sharply. ‘We’ve convened this mock house to echo the frustrations of Punjab’s citizens,’ he stated. ‘Fifty months in, zero promises fulfilled—worse, gang violence, ransom demands, and abductions are skyrocketing, breeding widespread hopelessness.’

Sunil Jakhar, the state party chief, didn’t hold back on the leadership’s demeanor. ‘Special sessions like this demand attention,’ he remarked. ‘Is the ruling elite intoxicated by arrogance or narcotics? Their recent antics signal a crisis.’ Referencing a cabinet showdown involving two ministers, Jakhar demanded their immediate resignations from the house.

Rakesh Rathore, general secretary, framed the event as a recurring tool for accountability. ‘This is how we cut through the noise to expose the government’s role in Punjab’s downfall,’ he asserted. Sanjeev Khanna, another secretary, alleged AAP’s Labor Day maneuvers masked fears of a floor test, betraying internal fractures.

Iqbal Singh Lalpura wrapped up by rallying for public-centric politics. ‘United, we address genuine grievances when rulers fail,’ he said. He lambasted AAP’s extended rule for failing to deliver safety or solutions, leaving every Punjabi feeling vulnerable.

This orchestrated critique positions BJP as a vigilant alternative, leveraging public discontent to challenge AAP’s grip on power in the border state.
