In a triumphant return to Delhi, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera was greeted by enthusiastic crowds after the Supreme Court granted him anticipatory bail in a controversial Assam FIR. The case stemmed from allegations by Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, spouse of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, who claimed Khera falsely accused her of holding several passports.

Addressing the media, Khera credited Babasaheb Ambedkar’s visionary Constitution for his reprieve. ‘This is the power of the Constitution that Ambedkar gave us,’ he said passionately. ‘It proves that against suppressive governments, it becomes our ultimate shield.’

Khera reiterated the Congress leadership’s repeated calls for accountability from the Election Commission, which has dodged every query on its integrity. The leader portrayed the Constitution as a perennial protector, stepping in whenever ordinary citizens or opposition figures confront governmental overreach.

‘The Supreme Court’s bail is a nationwide signal,’ Khera noted. ‘It assures that Ambedkar’s document will defend rights against any infringement by those in power.’ He vowed that people would hold repressive administrations accountable through electoral verdicts, especially amid rising doubts about institutional fairness.

Dismissing the Assam FIR as a politically motivated trap, Khera reaffirmed unwavering trust in constitutional safeguards. ‘It didn’t let them succeed against me, just as it won’t against anyone else,’ he stated, urging a collective stand for democratic values.
