In a fiery critique, Bihar’s opposition chief Tejashwi Yadav on Monday accused the NDA government of daylight robbery against the state’s womenfolk. What began as an election-time sweetener has turned into a massive scam, leaving crores of women high and dry.
Yadav recounted the desperate measures: fearing electoral loss, the NDA kept banks operational on polling day, depositing Rs 10,000 into accounts of Jivika Didis and other women. Accompanied by temptations were threats—vote for us or lose the money, with cameras watching every booth.
Post-victory assurances of Rs 2 lakh in two installments within six months now ring hollow. ‘Half a year on, no payments for 18 lakh pre-registered women or 1.81 crore others,’ Yadav blasted in his release. The excuse? Empty coffers and dire finances, as leaders chase political thrones.
The fallout is devastating, per the RJD executive president. Families’ present and future hang in balance, youth aspirations shattered, key sectors like schools, hospitals, and farms neglected. Anarchy prevails in Bihar, born from a regime’s vote-buying frenzy.
Despite knowing Bihar’s fiscal constraints, the NDA splashed Rs 41,000 crore from loans just before polls—a self-destructive gamble for power. Yadav’s message is clear: this betrayal of maternal power demands justice, exposing the NDA’s chair obsession over public good.
