President Droupadi Murmu returns to her roots with a packed one-day itinerary in Odisha on Tuesday, headlining the launch of key cultural and scientific landmarks. The spotlight falls on Rourkela, where the Tribal Museum, Tara Mandala, Science Center, and more will be inaugurated.
The President’s office detailed the program: a grand public event will see her open the Tara Mandala and Science Center, Nirmal Munda Nature Trail, Tribal Museum, and Integrated Command and Control Center. Robust security protocols are in place statewide.
Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and CM Mohan Charan Majhi will hold talks with her, fostering state-center synergy.
Flashback to February’s extended visit: spiritual sojourns at Jajpur’s ancient Birja Temple and Nabi Gaya rituals set a reverent tone. Balasore hosted her at Fakir Mohan University’s convocation, while Puri’s Jagannath Temple—12th-century marvel—saw her in pooja and aarti, plus other rites.
In Mayurbhanj, she joined community events at Rai Rangpur Jagannath Temple and explored Similipal Sanctuary, engaging tribal women and youth. This biodiversity hotspot preserves ancient tribal heritage.
Bhubaneswar capped the tour with the ‘Black Swan Summit, India,’ a fintech collaboration. She then inaugurated ‘Bastar Pandum 2026’ in Chhattisgarh’s Jagdalpur.
These initiatives reflect President Murmu’s vision for inclusive growth, blending tradition with modernity to uplift Odisha’s tribal heartlands and beyond.
