In a stirring speech in New Delhi, RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat made a compelling case for Sanskrit on Monday, labeling it the ‘soul of the nation’ and essential for cultural preservation. The event marked the opening of Sanskrit Bharati’s new central headquarters, where discussions focused on integrating Sanskrit into contemporary communication.

Bhagwat captivated the audience by transcending the conventional view of Sanskrit as merely a language. ‘It’s the pulsating heart of India’s ancient wisdom, sustaining our thoughts, lifestyle, and heritage through millennia,’ he articulated.

He elaborated on Bharat’s unique identity: not just land or economy, but a dynamic cultural continuum rooted in Sanskrit. This perspective, he argued, defines the nation’s enduring spirit.

Sharing anecdotes from his youth, Bhagwat described how classroom Sanskrit—riddled with forced memorization—seemed arduous. ‘But at home, those same verses flowed naturally, proving its inherent ease,’ he recounted, challenging the widespread notion of its complexity.

Today’s students face the same hurdle, Bhagwat observed. ‘Textbooks complicate it; conversation simplifies it,’ he insisted. Immersion is key: constant hearing and speaking render learning intuitive and effortless.

From his nationwide journeys, Bhagwat illustrated how regional dialects become accessible through persistent engagement. ‘Stay among speakers, absorb their rhythm, and speak without fear—that’s how languages come alive,’ he urged.

Bhagwat lauded Sanskrit Bharati for sparking a nationwide revival. ‘In just 15 years, they’ve flipped public perception, fostering genuine enthusiasm for Sanskrit,’ he said. His message ended on an optimistic note, envisioning a Sanskrit-infused future for India.
