Amid swirling international uncertainties, India’s Petroleum Ministry has delivered a strong message of stability in domestic LPG supply. Friday’s official update highlights that sales of 5-kg household cylinders continue seamlessly, reaching 17.83 lakh units in April to date, with more than 81,000 sold just recently.

No disruptions or gas shortages have been reported nationwide, underscoring the government’s commitment to prioritizing home cooking fuel.

PNG expansion is gaining momentum too: 5.27 lakh connections are now live, preparations complete for 2.60 lakh more, totaling 7.87 lakh. Around 5.97 lakh fresh registrations signal rising demand, even as 42,000+ consumers shifted from LPG via the dedicated online platform.

Tech-driven safeguards are working wonders—98% of bookings are digital, and 94% use mobile OTP for secure delivery, slashing fraud risks.

On the commercial front, Wednesday saw 8,483 MT of LPG sold, akin to 4.46 lakh standard cylinders, elevating monthly figures to 1.40 lakh MT (73.87 lakh cylinders).

Crackdown on illegal activities is relentless: 1.5 lakh+ inspections, 66,000 cylinders confiscated, over 1,100 FIRs, and 255 arrests. Oil majors fined 298 distributors and blacklisted 70 licenses.

Proactive steps address scenarios like Hormuz Strait closures, with refineries at peak output, sufficient crude reserves, and boosted LPG yields. Petrol and diesel stocks are secure.

The public is called upon to stay calm, shun hoarding, ignore unverified news, and opt for online bookings to ensure smooth access.
