Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu’s recent visit to Andhra Pradesh’s coastal belt brought good tidings for local fishermen. Inaugurating the ‘Matsya Sagarmala’ scheme in Sompeta’s Erramukkom village, he revealed how solar-powered lights are transforming nighttime fishing expeditions.

Posting on X, Naidu expressed joy at feedback from fishermen who now have reliable illumination during midnight returns from sea. The initiative features 1,594 solar lamps installed via Coal India’s CSR along Srikakulam’s coastal roads, formally launched today.

Beyond safety for boats, these lights are illuminating paths for tourism growth and overall coastal security. The minister reaffirmed the alliance government’s unwavering support for fishermen’s welfare.

He painted a vivid picture of Srikakulam as a treasure trove of untouched beaches, encouraging tourists to beat the summer heat with hydrating udhannam coconut water and discover hidden gems.

Rooted in the ambitious Sagarmala project initiated in 2015, this fisheries-focused arm leverages India’s strategic maritime assets—7,500 km coastline, vast waterways, and key trade routes—to drive port-centric development.

Sagarmala prioritizes efficient water transport networks to reduce logistics expenses, enhance trade competitiveness, modernize ports, spawn industries, generate employment, and foster eco-friendly coastal progress with smart investments.
