A deadly collision near Dhulawat toll plaza on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway claimed five lives from Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday morning. The black SUV, carrying officers posted in Jalaun, met with disaster while attempting an overtake en route to Palwal.

Details emerging from the scene paint a picture of sudden calamity. The driver veered out of control during the overtaking bid, smashing into the preceding vehicle. The impact sent the SUV tumbling, leaving it severely wrecked with occupants pinned inside.

Patrolling staff on the expressway recounted the pandemonium: a thunderous bang and billowing dust created widespread alarm. Vehicles halted abruptly, forming a temporary bottleneck. Tauru Sadar SHO Shish Ram Yadav identified the victims as Jalaun-based UP constables and notified their superiors.

Recovery efforts were hampered by the SUV’s severe damage. Witnesses watched helplessly as teams battled to free the bodies, one of which clutched an ID revealing Sub-Inspector Mohit Kumar Yadav. Contact with UP Police followed swiftly.

Once bodies were retrieved, heavy machinery was deployed to tow away the debris, easing the traffic snarl. An official inquiry is now underway to pinpoint the exact sequence of events and prevent future occurrences.

This heartbreaking accident highlights ongoing safety challenges on India’s expressways, from reckless overtakes to inadequate emergency response infrastructure. As condolences pour in for the fallen officers, authorities vow a thorough investigation to honor their memory with actionable reforms.
