The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) commemorated its 32nd establishment day with pomp and ceremony at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Chief guests Delhi CM Rekha Gupta and MoS Housing Tokhan Sahu joined dignitaries to honor the network’s legacy and future ambitions.
Key attendees included DMRC Chairman Katikithala Srinivasa and MD Dr. Vikas Kumar, who witnessed the distribution of prestigious annual awards. These accolades celebrated outstanding performances by individuals and teams driving the metro’s success.
Standouts included Sushma Yadav as Metro Woman of the Year and Harendra Kumar as Metro Man of the Year. Lajpat Nagar Station earned Best Metro Station honors, Najafgarh Depot took Best Metro Depot, and Rajesh Kumar Sharma received the Rajbhasha Award.
Japan’s diplomatic and JICA representatives underscored their vital role in DMRC’s growth. Minister Manohar Lal’s video message lauded the metro’s evolution from a 2002 vision to a nationwide model, with 1,150+ km operational and expansive projects ahead.
CM Gupta highlighted Phase-4 and 5A progress, crediting PM Modi’s recent additions. She announced the kickoff of preparations for seven Phase-5B corridors, a boon for commuters. Tokhan Sahu called it a milestone of trust for Delhi-NCR’s millions.
This gathering served as a platform to review past triumphs and outline sustainable transport goals, ensuring Delhi Metro remains at the forefront of urban innovation.
