In a hands-on push for regional growth, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath toured ongoing mega infrastructure works in Gorakhpur on Thursday. His spotlight was on the critical four-lane highway from Domingarh Madhopur Bandh to Mahesra Bridge and the essential Rail Over Bridge at Domingarh, vital for traffic flow and battling annual floods.

Post-inaugurating Rs 1,055 crore worth of projects including an eco-park, Yogi arrived at the sites. First stop: embankment beyond Lal Diggi, where he scrutinized blueprints and demanded updates from PWD officials. Stressing urgency, he ordered faster execution to hand over quality infrastructure sooner.

At Illahibagh, he reviewed earthworks and set an ambitious July 2026 deadline for the Rs 379.54 crore, 10.2 km road, advancing it from September. Engaging the municipal body, Yogi envisioned transforming trash-laden spots near Mahesra’s water body into scenic eco-parks, enhancing aesthetics alongside functionality.

The tour covered the parallel four-laner from Rajghat via Hubert Bandh, Domingarh, Kolia, Gahasad Bandh to Jungle Kaudiya-Kalesar—a 4.07 km, Rs 195.21 crore effort already 75% done, eyeing May 2026 finish. This upgrade fortifies flood barriers while streamlining routes.

Concluding at Domingarh near the ROB site, Yogi pored over plans for the 755m bridge costing Rs 132.61 crore, slated for December 2027. Speaking to enthusiastic crowds, he painted a vivid picture of eased commutes for Ghunghunkotha and Jagatbela folk, direct Sonauli access sans city detours, and superior links from Tipinagar to Mohripur.

These arteries will slash travel times, conserve fuel, and shield against inundations, Yogi noted. ‘A chain of development is reshaping Gorakhpur’s lifeline,’ he affirmed, confident in agencies’ ability to meet accelerated timelines for public relief.
