India’s green economy is set to explode with job creation, as per Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh. Addressing an Earth Day event at Jamia Millia Islamia, he forecasted lakhs of employment opportunities in renewable energy and electric vehicles, underscoring the country’s fast-paced shift to sustainability.

Key sectors poised for growth include renewables, EVs, green fuels, and circular economy models, all primed to absorb a young workforce eager for meaningful careers. ‘These green jobs will power our economy’s future, creating vast opportunities for entrepreneurial youth,’ Singh stated confidently.

Transitioning to low-carbon practices promises dual benefits: surging employment and robust sustainable development. The government’s ambitious National Green Hydrogen Mission, with investments exceeding ₹19,000 crore, targets hard-to-abate industries like steel and cement, paving the way for cleaner operations.

Innovation is at the heart of this boom. From converting conventional cars to EVs affordably, to booming fields like solar panel production, battery tech, grid optimization, and biofuel generation. Novel ideas, such as biofuel from waste cooking oil, are turning everyday waste into profitable enterprises.

Ocean energy remains underexplored but holds immense promise alongside solar and wind. India is ramping up nuclear capacity and opening space and nuclear domains to private investment, fostering a wave of innovation.

Backing this is a massive ₹1 lakh crore RDI fund designed to nurture startups. India’s ‘LiFE’ philosophy positions it as a global leader in climate action.

In his call to action, Dr. Singh encouraged the younger generation to dive into green opportunities, stressing that innovation and bold choices will define tomorrow’s success.
