Samlu Markam, a resident of Katabahara (Nagwahi), whose wife Kapura Markam is suffering from the fourth stage of thyroid cancer and is unable to walk. They brought her to the Collectorate on a bike. Here, Collector Shri Gopal Verma, upon learning of the matter, immediately arranged for an ambulance, got the victim admitted to the district hospital, and directed the Chief Medical Officer for treatment. The woman will be admitted to Raipur for better treatment.

The Chief Medical and Health Officer said that on November 11, upon receiving information that Shri Samlu Markam of village Katabahara (Nagwahi) was taking his wife Mrs. Kapura Markam, suffering from thyroid cancer, for treatment on a bike, a team from the health department reached the victim’s house on November 12 and sent her to মেকাহারা Raipur for better treatment via 108 ambulance. Here the woman was admitted to the Cancer Research Unit where she was treated under the supervision of cancer specialist doctors.

He further stated that earlier, upon receiving information about the victim’s health problem, a team from the primary health center Regakhar/Community Health Center Bodla, development block Bodla health department, inspected the residence of the victim Kapura Markam, wife of Samlu Markam, in village Katabahara (Nagwahi). It was found that Shri Samlu Markam had taken his wife Kapura Markam to the primary health center Regakhar jungle for treatment due to pain in the lump in her neck. The doctor posted there discussed the patient’s illness with the district health department officials and referred her to Raipur for treatment. There, treatment was received for one year in 2024 at AIIMS, মেকাহারা, and DKS Hospital, along with some private hospitals. After that, in January 2025, treatment was received for one month at Tata Memorial Mumbai. She was brought home after treatment. When the victim’s condition worsened again, she was taken to Raipur by the health department on November 12 for treatment by specialist doctors. There she remained admitted at মেকাহারা on November 12 and 13, and was admitted to AIIMS from November 14 to 19, 2025, and given chemotherapy. After that, the patient was brought back home on November 20. After that, she was recovering at home. Following this, the woman was admitted to the district hospital today again due to deteriorating health. From here she will be admitted to Raipur.
