Delhi’s law enforcers turned Burari into a no-go zone for criminals Tuesday night, executing a meticulously planned combing operation that lasted from dusk till midnight. Over 150 personnel, spearheaded by Northern District’s DCP Raja Banthia, deployed in 26 specialized teams to hunt down threats and restore order.

Checkpoints locked down key spots first, preventing any getaway, while search and patrol units combed streets and alleys. Five armed individuals fell into the net: their arsenal included one improvised pistol and four blades, leading to immediate Arms Act FIRs.

Standouts included repeat offender Gaurav, 23, packing the pistol with a history under his belt. Knife-wielders were Nikhil, 25, from Baba Colony (two priors); another Nikhil, 23, from Tomar Colony; Rohit, 29, from Himgiri Enclave; and Aditya, 22, from Harijan Basti.

Bootleggers weren’t spared—three nabbed with 650 quarters of banned alcohol, facing excise violations. Nineteen rule-breaking bikes were impounded, 118 people held for questioning, one drunk in public arrested, and four slapped with preventive measures.

This sweeping success highlights the force’s zero-tolerance stance, blending intelligence, manpower, and tactics to dismantle local crime ecosystems. Residents can breathe easier knowing police are proactively safeguarding their streets.
