The corridors of power in Bihar are buzzing after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar opted for a Rajya Sabha berth, igniting a fresh wave of political drama. Tejashwi Yadav, the combative RJD leader and assembly opposition head, has pointed fingers directly at the BJP, charging it with executing a ‘Maharashtra model’ to oust Nitish and crown its own figurehead as CM.
In a no-holds-barred address, Yadav asserted that BJP’s pattern is unmistakable: select pliable chief ministers who rubber-stamp decisions. ‘We’ve been warning for ages that BJP hijacked Nitish Kumar. Now it’s undeniable,’ he said. Public outrage in Bihar, he added, rejects this maneuver outright, predicting it as par for the course in BJP’s alliance history.
Yadav escalated his critique, labeling the BJP as treading the RSS path by weaponizing institutions like the Election Commission against democratic norms. ‘Bihar’s voters see it all. Our hearts go out to Nitish amid this ordeal. It’s a blatant public deception.’ He alleged BJP’s torture of Nitish pushed him to Rajya Sabha, with the ultimate goal of obliterating JD(U)’s existence.
Echoing these sentiments on social media, Lalu Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya didn’t mince words. ‘Nitish, the serial betrayer of ‘friends,’ dug his own pit through opportunism. Forced into this by BJP on January 28, 2024, when he ditched the grand alliance for the chair, he’s now their marionette,’ she posted on X. She highlighted BJP’s reputation for politically interring allies.
This escalating war of words underscores fractures within Bihar’s ruling coalition. With Nitish’s exit looming, speculation rife about BJP’s next move, the opposition is seizing the moment to rally against what it calls a power grab, setting the stage for intense electoral battles ahead.
